About the Role
We are looking for a Large Animal Practice Administrator to join our friendly Practice team working 15 hours over 2 days a week (Mon/Tues- 8.30-5pm). This is a fixed term contract initially and is expected to end on 13th July 2026.
This role is essential in providing day to day support of the vets to ensure they can provide an optimum service to our clients. This role is client facing and involves management of the administration relating to our TB service. It is a varied role and includes some clinical skill development and diary management.
You will need to work well independently and within a team and be able to communicate at all levels whilst having a great eye for detail. Experience in the Veterinary environment is desirable but not essential as training will be given.

Job Title: LAP Administrator
Reports To: Farm Animal Practice Manager
Job Purpose:
The role holder is to facilitate the daily running of the Large Animal Practice.
The position involves helping to drive the Farm Animal Practice (FAP) forward through conducting and enabling support activities within the associated areas, under the direction of the Line Manager. This role is essential in providing day to day support of the vets to ensure they can provide an optimum service to our clients. This role is client facing and as such you provide the first point of call to all clients.
The role holder will facilitate the day to day running, including scheduling visits, maintaining stocks, dispensing drugs and interacting with clients and vets. They will also conduct all administrative tasks to include TB administration associated with the FAP.
Principal Accountabilities:
This list is not exhaustive but includes the main tasks.
- Facilitating the day-to-day running of the FAP. This includes conducting reception and admin duties, invoicing, and maintaining FAP areas and equipment.
- You will be required to open and close the FAP on a day-to-day basis, in conjunction with the Farm Animal Practice manager.
- Taking new client details and ensuring welcome packs are sent out in good time.
- Conducting reception duties. This includes dealing with clients and vets both in person and by phone/email, booking call-outs, dealing with initial complaints, taking payments, dispensing drugs and ensuring the phones are transferred to the OOH service at 5pm.
- Conducting administrative duties. This includes inputting data into the TB database & RX Works, arranging administration updates and maintaining files, ordering stationery, submitting and coordinating lab samples, maintaining FAP staff facilities, liaising with other departments such as pathology for postmortems, and TB testing activities. You will be required to maintain the TB equipment.
- Conducting invoicing and financing activities. This includes producing invoices, taking payments, dealing with petty cash, chasing payments, and dealing with initial complaints.
- Maintaining FAP areas and equipment. This includes ensuring the cleanliness of FAP areas including the pharmacy, reception, farm holding and farm portacabin. You will clean and maintain sterilised and non-sterilised farm equipment. You will also be trained in how to obtain plasma from alpaca blood and perform faecal egg counts.
- Helping to co-ordinate referral cases across LV departments.
- Inputting and recording data to facilitate analysis and report production. This includes visit numbers, herd data, TB testing and client information.
- Maintaining, monitoring, and recording stock levels within the FAP pharmacy.
- Ensuring compliance to H&S protocols within the FAP.
- Performing such reasonable duties as requested from time to time by your line manager.
