The soft tissue surgery service at Langford Vets offers exceptional care for animals suffering from a wide variety of soft tissue surgical conditions. Our large and experienced team of Specialist surgeons, alongside staff clinicians and residents, work with our other hospital specialists in critical care, anaesthesia, internal medicine, oncology, diagnostic imaging, and cardiology to ensure the animals in our care benefit from a truly multi-disciplinary approach providing holistic care of the highest quality. The service is well supported by a large and dedicated team of interns, nurses and animal care assistants.

The soft tissue service at Langford are pleased to accept referrals in the following areas:

We also offer a specific Brachycephalic Clinic and contribute to the Interventional Radiology service to allow us to treat a variety of difficult cases minimally invasively (including treatment of intrahepatic shunts, which we have been treating via interventional radiology since 2010). . Our state of the art intensive care unit enables us to deal with complex trauma cases, or more challenging cases requiring round-the-clock airway care or ventilator management before or after surgery. We are one of the few referral practices in the south west able to accept emergency surgical referrals 24/7.

 

Soft Tissue Price List

We have introduced fixed price procedures for the majority of soft tissue surgeries to try to avoid any unexpected financial surprises during treatment at Langford Vets. The prices listed include a consultation, standard workup (where applicable), surgery and routine ‘expected’ aftercare. Our soft tissue surgery team will be able to advise which category your patient's treatment fits into as the example procedures listed are not exhaustive.

BOAS Assessment (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) £367.50, includes consultation, +/- sedation, nursing and medication.

BOAS Swallowing Study £157.50, includes fluoroscopy and nurse time

BOAS Telephone Assessment £367.50, includes teleconsultation with vet and nurse.

BOAS Surgery £2625, includes admit consultation, ICU hospitalisation, general anaesthetic, surgery, consumables and medication.

Ectopic Ureter Laser Surgery £1890, 2 days hospitalisation, surgery, cystoscopy, laser and medication.

Laparoscopic Liver Biopsy £661.50, includes liver biopsy and general anaesthetic only.

Laparoscopic Neuter £787.50, includes consultation, 2 days hospitalisation, surgery, general anaesthetic and medication. This procedure is for young healthy dogs with no pre-existing medical conditions. Please contact us to discuss complex cases.

Laryngeal Tie Back (without imaging) £2730, includes consultation, 2 days hospitalisation in ICU, surgery, general anaesthetic and medication.

Laryngeal Tie Back (with imaging) £3570, includes consultation, diagnostic imaging, 2 days hospitalisation in ICU, surgery, general anaesthetic and medication.

Portosystemic Shunt Initial Work Up (routine) £1260, includes consultation, imaging, sedation, 1 day hospitalisation, lab tests (CBC, biochemistry, bile acids, ammonia, urinalysis and culture) and a 2 week supply of medication.

Extrahepatic Shunt Surgery (with imaging) £4200, includes consultation, diagnostics, 5 days hospitalisation (inc. ICU), surgery, general anaesthetic and medication.

Extrahepatic Shunt Surgery (without imaging) £3675, includes consultation, 5 days hospitalisation (inc. ICU), surgery, general anaesthetic and medication.

Intrahepatic Shunt Surgery (open) £4200, includes consultation, 5 days hospitalisation (inc. ICU), surgery, general anaesthetic and medication. No imaging.

Intrahepatic Shunt Surgery - Coil £5500, includes consultation, 5 days hospitalisation (inc. ICU), surgery, general anaesthetic and medication. No imaging.

Intrahepatic Shunt Repeat Coil £1500

SUB (Subcutaneous Urinary Bypass) 1 kidney £5250, includes consultation, up to 3 week hospitalisation, surgery lab tests, general anaesthetic, imaging and some medications.

SUB 2 kidneys £7350, includes consultation, up to 3 week hospitalisation, surgery lab tests, general anaesthetic, imaging and some medications.

SUB Flush Free of Charge, includes admit consult, sedation, blood pressure and ultrasound (maximum of 3 flushes)

TECA/VBO (Total Ear Canal Ablation/Ventral Bulla Osteotomy) with CT (1 ear) £3570, includes consultation, CT, 3 days hospitalisation, surgery, general anaesthetic and medication.

TECA/VBO without CT (1 ear) £2730, includes consultation, 3 days hospitalisation, surgery, general anaesthetic and medication.

TECA/VBO (2nd ear) £2310, includes admit consultation, 3 days hospitalisation, surgery, general anaesthetic and medication.
