Export of all equines across international borders requires lots of paperwork. The complexity of the paperwork varies with the destination, mode of transport and route.
Most exports have pre-travel requirements. These may be specific vaccination protocols, blood testing or swabs to test for particular diseases, or pre-export medication or treatments. Multiple health certificates in different languages may be needed for each of the countries the horse passes through.
At the Stables Equine Practice, we are used to liaising with APHA and shipping agents to coordinate testing and health certificate(s) production and we have several “official veterinarians” (vets that are trained and qualified to act for APHA) that can examine animals for export and complete the paperwork.
