Barnaby was treated at Langford Vets Small Animal Referral Hospital for a fibrocartilaginous embolism (FCE), where the blood supply to the spinal cord is suspected to be obstructed by a piece of fibrous cartilage.  He initially presented to our Neurology Team unable to walk on his hind legs but his case was determined not to be surgical. He was hospitalised for three weeks receiving intense nursing care and physiotherapy.  He was able to walk with the support of a harness when he was discharged and returned for follow up sessions with our physiotherapy team.

Barnaby slowly continues to improve at home. He still expects and enjoys long walks along the beach or through the woods and enjoys running around with the other dogs in the village.  His owners are very proud of how far he has come and pleased that he is back enjoying life to the full.
