We have an exciting opportunity for an individual with clinical veterinary experience - either as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) or in another role within a veterinary practice - to join our Stores Team as a Stores Control Assistant.
In this role, you will work alongside our existing team to ensure the smooth, accurate, and efficient ordering and management of stock within our Small Animal Hospital. Key responsibilities will include monitoring stock levels, placing orders, organising and maintaining inventory, and ensuring all storage areas are clean, tidy, and compliant.
You will also play an active role in regular stock takes across the business, including supporting the planning and delivery of our comprehensive end-of-year audit.
The ideal candidate will bring clinical experience to support a strong understanding of pharmaceuticals and general veterinary stock requirements. We are looking for someone who is friendly, proactive, and flexible in their approach to work, with a keen eye for detail and strong organisational skills.
This is a part-time role, working 25 hours per week. The working pattern is likely to be Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

Essential:
- Clinical veterinary experience (e.g. RVN of at least 1 years’ experience or clinical role within a veterinary practice for at least 3 years)
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and veterinary consumables
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail

Job Title: Stock Control Assistant
Reports To: Stores Team Leader
Job Purpose:
The role holder will be expected to support the Stores Team Leader and Small Animal Hospital (SAH) for all ordering and processing of stock and pharmaceuticals.
Providing the smooth, precise and efficient running of all ordering and stock control within the Small Animal Hospital and its procedures and processes in support of the clinical activities. Ensuring all orders for consumables and pharmaceuticals are correctly managed and that the pharmacy and storage areas for the SAH are kept clean, tidy and well stocked at all times. Participate with regular stock take and stock audits.
To ensure a friendly and welcoming environment and effective and smooth running of this department within the SAH within a culture of continuous improvement.
Principal Accountabilities:

Placing and processing orders of consumables, drugs and equipment including CAPEX for the Small Animal Hospital. Updating of stock levels after delivery using the Practice Management computer System (PMS). Making sure the price is correct on the PMS taking into account any currency conversion required.

Manage the use of fees on the PMS, develop a good understanding of how fees should be maintained for accurate reporting, liaise with the PMS support teams for troubleshooting issues.

Provide assistance with price checking on the hospital and pharmacy computer systems.

Deliveries – receive, unpack and check items against delivery note and check for damages. Transport goods to relevant storage area.

Communicate shortages to relevant parties – sourcing alternatives if necessary.

Returning damaged/unsuitable goods to supplier accurately, keeping up to date records.

Communicate with company representatives to enable LV to get the best possible deals.

Use the StFrancis group NetNet pricing report to make purchasing choices where appropriate.

Assist with stock rotation as directed by the Stores Team Leader and provide assistance with regular stock taking and agreed regular audits (to include the end of year audit).

Check for out of date stock as directed, but within regular stock takes as a minimum.

Under the supervision of the Stores Team Leader dispense pharmaceuticals, ensuring owners have the correct PPE and handling information.

Ensure all regulations regarding the storage and management of pharmaceuticals and consumables are adhered to, including the booking in of controlled drugs.

Assist with recording of temperature monitoring.

Involvement with updating SOP’s and protocols annually.

Providing support in the processing of Royal Mail post for LV when required

Checking invoices and signing off for payment when appropriate

Arranging the printing of all required documents by SAH.

Monitoring the BOC gas cage and ordering replacement cylinders

Making sure that all storage and pharmacy areas are always clean and tidy, removal of waste/recycling to the correct location.
