2026 Dental Clinic
We've launched new dates for our first equine dental clinics of the year.

- Wednesday 1st April
- Monday 27th April
The clinics will be run at Stables Equine Practice by Dr Karen Moore BVSc CertAVP (ED) FHEA CATE MRCVS who has an advanced certificate in Equine Dentistry.
Clinics slots are £50 for a basic dental with sedation; clients can also get their vaccines done at the same time for the normal additional vaccine fee. Karen can do more complex dental work, but this may come as an additional cost to the basic dental with sedation.
Meet Karen
“I graduated from Bristol Veterinary School in 2008 so have come full circle to teach the students here again. After graduating and a brief stint in small animal practice I spent 10 years working for The Donkey Sanctuary where I gained my Certificate in Equine Dentistry and became an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Equine Dentistry for 5 years. I also joined the Equine Veterinary Dental Association (EVDA), of which I am still a member. Working there made me fall in love with donkeys and I used my experience and knowledge to travel and help working donkeys all over the world – when volunteering with a charity in Gambia I helped set up the countries first ever equine x-ray machine!
Moving into education at Surrey Veterinary School in 2020 I worked with the final year students ending up as final year equine lead. After 5 years at Surrey a role opened at Bristol and I jumped at the chance of a larger role in student support (one of my main roles for the university is as a Senior Tutor and Academic Disability lead) but the move also allowed me to get back into practical dental work which I had missed. I love running the monthly dental clinics for SEP because it combines my love for dentistry with my love for teaching and educating the next generation of vets.

As well as educating students I love to get owners involved so will often ask if you want to look in your horse’s mouth too! Making sure owners understand why problems occur and how we can work together to help your equine means your pet will get the best care possible to allow them to live their best lives with you.
Outside of work I love walking and since 2017 I’ve taken part in the annual walk 1000 miles challenge, occasionally accompanied by my husband and 11-year-old, but always by my 4-year-old Springer Spaniel Gus."
