Having worked as a veterinary nurse for around 16 years, Kelly has worked in lots of different practices and with a variety of animals. Having previously worked in a cat rehoming centre and boarding kennels, Kelly started off her veterinary nursing career in a busy first opinion mixed practice, where she became involved with large animal nursing. Whilst there, she also saw and cared for a lot of wildlife animals and the odd exotic pet.
She then travelled to Australia where she locumed, working in mixed practices, small animal practices and then referral hospitals. Kelly worked in four different referral hospitals in Australia, starting by working in emergency and critical care before going on to become an oncology nurse, which she did for around six years. Following this, she became the head nurse of the department and was involved in training nurses and interns.
After returning to England she was a locum for six months in general practice, before moving to work at The Animal Health Trust, first as a ward shift nurse, then as an ophthalmology nurse. She worked as as an ophthalmology nurse for a year and a half before joining Langford Vets in May 2017, to continue her love of ophthalmology.
Kelly has also volunteered for an animal charity in Sri Lanka, a retired horse racing society, worked on a dairy farm, and enjoys travel, meeting new people and new challenges!
When she's not at work, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Bugsy and Bruno! She also enjoys horse riding, tennis, and other outdoor activities. She is a member of St. John Ambulance volunteer group and loves going out to events which she looks forward to continuing here in Somerset.
