Ross graduated from Edinburgh University in 1989 and spent five years in general practice. He then completed an MSc in Toxicology at Surrey University, and a PhD at Bristol University. He then moved to Cambridge University as a lecturer in veterinary pathology before returning to Bristol. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology based at the School of Veterinary Sciences at Langford. Ross became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2014.
At home, Ross and his wife have owned a number of pets with fascinating personalities. In what little spare time he has he enjoys playing badminton and walking in the Mendips.
