Our Ophthalmology service aims to provide specialist expertise and experience in dealing with eye disease in all veterinary species. Within the Small Animal Referral Hospital, our caseload is made up primarily of dogs and cats, and the occasional exotic species.
If your pet has an eye problem, we are here to help. Examination of your pet’s eyes with specialist equipment, combined with our ophthalmic expertise means we can give you the most up-to-date information and advice, and help you to make decisions about your pet’s treatment.
Our aim is to give expert and honest guidance and information allowing you to make the right choices for your pet.
Ophthalmic treatments may include medical treatments and management or surgical correction of ocular disease. The aim of any treatment is to try and maintain, or restore, the best possible vision and comfort for your pet.
The types of eye problems we often see include:
Eyelid problems including entropion or eyelid masses
Inflammation inside the eye (uveitis)
Cataracts which may due to inherited factors, or other systemic disease (like diabetes mellitus)
Lens luxation (or subluxation)
