Ultrasound
Ultrasound
Ultrasound machines with colour and spectral Doppler capability are available in both the small animal and equine centres. A full range of examinations is regularly performed, including abdominal, musculoskeletal and cardiac. Ultrasound is frequently used to guide aspirates and biopsies of any abnormal tissue seen; samples are subsequently interpreted by specialist pathologists in the Diagnostic Laboratories. Ultrasound-guided procedures are relatively non-invasive and may eliminate the need for subsequent surgical investigation.
