TPLO for cranial cruciate ligament disease

TPLO Winter Offer - Save £1800

Cranial cruciate ligament disease is a common and debilitating disease causing lameness in dogs. Several surgical procedures are performed to assist resolution of lameness due to cranial cruciate ligament insufficiency. Tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (TPLO) surgeries present a novel approach to the management of this clinical problem. This surgery changes the anatomical relationship of the bones in the dogs’ knee joint restoring joint function despite the incompetence of the diseased cranial cruciate ligament.

A variety of surgical techniques are offered by the orthopaedic service for treating cranial cruciate ligament disease, including TPLO.

1. Removal of the ruptured cruciate ligament. An injured meniscus is also evident.

2. A jig is applied to the limb and an oscillating biradial saw is used to cut the tibial bone.

3. The bone is rotated and reattached in the levelled position using a locking plate and locking screws for maximum stability at the osteotomy site.
