Emergency and Critical Care Clinician, RCVS Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care

Sophie graduated from the University of Liverpool. She completed an internship in anaesthesia at The University of Bristol and a general small animal internship at The Animal Health prior to starting her residency in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at the Royal Veterinary College in 2002.

Sophie was the first residency trained diplomate of the American College of Emergency and Critical Care to be trained in the UK and is also the first RCVS recognised Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care.  Sophie spent 10 years at the Royal Veterinary College as a lecturer where she was head of the Emergency Service and developed a passion for clinical emergency medicine.

Sophie enjoys all aspects of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, but is particularly interested in the management of shock and sepsis.

Out of work Sophie spends most of her time trying (and failing) to tame her toddler.
