Nursing Team
Our nursing staff are a highly skilled team with over 130 years of experience between them. The long duration of service achieved by many of our nurses is an indication of the level of commitment to their work. Many have progressed within the company, becoming specialists in their chosen fields and achieving further qualifications such as diplomas in surgery and medicine. Our Intensive Care Nurse, Sarah Collins, is one of few in this country to hold the Veterinary Technician Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care (VTSECC) qualification.
We are also proud that a number of our Veterinary Nursing undergraduates have chosen to take up employment with us, following completion of their degrees; one of whom is our Anaesthesia nurse, Vicky Ford-Fennah.
The Small Animal Hospital is divided into two main sections: Surgery and Medicine. Each section has a team of specialist nurses, who are supported by a team of rotational nurses that work within all areas of the clinics. The Surgical nursing team are further supported by our Sterilising technician, Angie Sugg, who works hard to ensure efficient sterilisation of our surgical equipment and instrumentation. The nurses also work closely alongside a team of trained Animal Care Assistants.
During your pet’s hospitalisation, there will be more than one nurse involved with their care, each providing their own expertise as required - for example, preparing them for surgical procedures, taking their x-rays, monitoring their anaesthetic and providing nutritional support - ensuring that your pet receives the best possible nursing care throughout all stages of their hospitalisation.
