Three of the European Veterinary Specialists within the medicine team are also RCVS Recognised Specialists in Feline Medicine and, with the support of a team of training scholars and nurses, run a dedicated Feline Internal Medicine Service, offering a comprehensive feline medical referral service to veterinary surgeons in general practice. Clinics are run daily from Monday to Friday with an emergency service available at all times.
The Feline Internal Medicine Service works closely with the diagnostic imaging, clinical pathology, surgery, behaviour and emergency services to provide a complete multidisciplinary approach. We also have a highly skilled feline dedicated nurse, and this, together with the design of our wards and facilities, ensures that all feline patients remain as relaxed as possible during their time in the hospital.
One of the feline Specialists and two of the clinical training scholars are funded by the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) and work closely with FAB Head Office. The FAB is a UK charity dedicated to veterinary excellence in feline medicine and to the care of cats. The FAB funded vets are involved in compiling the huge amount of detailed and reliable information for owners and vets which is available on the FAB website (www.fabcats.org). They also work with FAB in developing initiatives such as the Cat Friendly Practice and Wellcat for Life programmes.
