HOW TO REFER A HORSE TO THE CENTRE

Call 0117 928 9621/9620 between the hours of 09:00 and 17.00 A letter or fax on headed notepaper, signed by the veterinary surgeon, is required as soon as possible after the initial call and certainly before the patient is seen. It should give details of the case with relevant reports, test results and authorisation to investigate.

The Equine Hospital fax number is 0117 928 9622. The postal address is Equine Referral Hospital, Langford House, Langford, BS40 5DU.

Once contact is established, we will deal directly with the client to find a mutually-suitable appointment time. This avoids the referring practice having to act as “middle-man” – we know the frustration of passing messages back and forward! We will do our very best to keep referring vets informed of the case’s progress.

At the Equine Hospital, if you wish to make an emergency referral when the reception desk is closed, please call 01209 823457. The call will be taken by the out of hours service who will take owner and horse details and immediately contact the Duty Clinician. The Duty Clinician will return your call to give advice and instructions as to how to proceed.

We welcome comments on our service and feedback from veterinary surgeons and practice clients. These can be sent by e-mail to:
