Surgical procedures performed routinely for dynamic upper respiratory tract diseases include prosthetic laryngoplasty laryngeal vocal cordectomy and ventriculectomy, laryngeal tieforward and thermocautery.

In addition to having considerable experience of conventional surgical procedures in the respiratory tract, we now perform many procedures in the conscious horse under sedation and facilitated by nerve blocks. These include sinus surgery and laryngeal surgery using a diode laser. The latter is a recent acquisition which can be used to perform minimally invasive treatments in the respiratory tract via a fibre-optic video-endoscope for selected procedures.
