About Us
The Equine Centre has a major responsibility for the investigation and treatment of horses and consists of two integrated sections, (1) the Equine Hospital and (2) the Equine Practice.
The Equine Hospital is a dedicated equine referral centre, which provides specialist advice, diagnosis and treatment for horses throughout the Southwest of England and Wales.
Patients are referred to the Equine Hospital by their local veterinary surgeons and may be examined as day patients or hospitalised for more intensive treatment. The Equine Centre staff provide a unique resource of expertise which covers all areas of equine medicine and surgery, including performance evaluation and ENT surgery, colic surgery, lameness evaluation and orthopaedic surgery, diagnostic imaging and medical investigations and treatment.
The Equine Practice compliments the Equine referral hospital and both are fully integrated. This allows our first opinion clients to receive the best veterinary care available, with immediate support from recognised specialists.
The services include routine preventative medicine, pre purchase examination, lameness evaluation, castration, diagnosis and treatment of all medical and surgical conditions, stud medicine, export certification, emergency services including hospitalisation (24 hr/day 365 day/yr).
All the facilities at the Equine centre are shared between the practice and the referral hospital. These include digital and conventional radiography, diagnostic ultrasound, dental endoscopy, video endoscopy, laparoscopy, nuclear scintigraphy, treadmill poor performance testing, full surgical suite, in-house laboratory service, hospitalisation and intensive nursing for adults and neonates, together with trot-up areas, hard and soft lunge rings and a 20x40m indoor arena.
