Histopathology

The LVS Diagnostic Laboratories Histopathology Service offers high quality and rapid turnaround reporting on biopsy samples.

Our highly skilled histopathology technicians prepare tissue sections stained by haematoxylin and eosin or a panel of histochemical stains.  The laboratory participates in an external Quality Assurance scheme (VETQUAS) and regularly receives top scores for processing and staining.

We are able to offer immunohistochemistry for detailed characterization of tumour type or identification of certain infectious agents.  Our diagnostic histopathologists have board certification from the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) and/or the European College of Veterinary Pathology (DiplECVP).

The Diagnostic Laboratories can provide the following histology services:

Tissue processing

Sectioning

Frozen sectioning

Immunohistochemistry

Decalcification and other treatments for hard samples (bone/hoof/horn/teeth)

Panels of histochemical stains as needed.
