Cardiorespiratory Medicine

For particularly sick patients we offer:

nasal catheter
  • Genuine 24-hour veterinary care with a veterinary surgeon in ICU at all times.
  • Oxygen therapy provided using humidified oxygen via nasal cannulae, nasal catheters or oxygen cage, as appropriate to the patient.
  • Provision of Heliox (helium/oxygen mixture) when this may be of benefit e.g. patients with upper respiratory tract obstruction.
  • Monitoring of oxygenation status using pulse oximetry and arterial blood gas analysis.
  • Nebulisation and chest physiotherapy routinely provided where appropriate.
  • Continuous suction system for management of severe, refractory pneumothorax.
  • Advanced monitoring of cardiovascular status using direct arterial blood pressure and central venous pressure where appropriate.
  • Facilities for short-term ventilation of patients if required.
